Alpha-value

The probability of committing a Type-I-error is represented by the level of statistical significance, denoted by the lowercase Greek letter alpha (α). Conversely, the probability of being correct, given that H0 is true is equal to 1 - α.

When the hypothesis is rejected, it can be stated that the hypothesis is false with a given significance, the alpha-value.

A probabilidade de cometer um erro tipo I é representada pelo nível de significância estatística, denotada pela letra grega minúscula alfa. Contrariamente, a probabilidade de estar correta, dada que H0 é verdadeira é igual a 1 - α.
