Research Question

A research question is what defines a direction in developing research strategies. These questions can be grouped into knowledge questions – which are addressed by empirical research in software engineering and include exploratory questions (existence questions, description and classification questions, descriptive-comparative questions), base-rate questions (frequency and distribution questions, descriptive-process questions), relationship questions, and causality questions (causality questions, causality-comparative questions, causality-comparative interaction questions) – and design questions, which is the focus of most non-empirical research in software engineering.
