Critical Theory judges scientific knowledge by its ability to free people from restrictive systems of thought.

É a abordagem teórica que, contrapondo-se à Teoria Tradicional, de tipo cartesiano, busca unir teoria e prática, ou seja, incorporar ao pensamento tradicional dos filósofos uma tensão com o presente. A Teoria Crítica julga o conhecimento científico por sua habilidade para libertar as pessoas dos sistemas restritivos de pensamento.
