Provenance
Proveniência (também referida como linhagem ou pedigree) representa a ascendência de um objeto. Proveniência, no contexto computacional, é a informação que auxilia a determinar o processo de derivação dos dados a partir de suas fontes originais. Especificamente em experimentos científicos, a proveniência é fundamental, pois auxilia não somente a interpretação e compreensão de resultados, realizada a partir da análise da seqüência de passos que conduziram a um determinado resultado, como também garante a reprodutibilidade de um experimento científico. Proveniência pode ser classificada de duas formas: prospectiva e retrospectiva.

Provenance (also referred as lineage or pedigree) represents the ancestry of an object. In the computing context, provenance is the information that helps to determine the derivation history of a data product, starting from its original sources. Specifically in scientific experiments, provenance is fundamental because it helps scientists not only to interpret and understand results by the examination of the sequence of steps that led to a particular result, but also to guarantee the reproducibility of the scientific experiments. Provenance can be classified into two forms: prospective and retrospective.
